April 23rd to 29th marks 2017's National Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Week. Looking at Ontario’s current waitlist of over 1500 people in need of a transplant, it is clear to see the dire need for donors. With over 85% of Ontarians in support of organ and tissue donation, yet only 33% being registered donors, Ontario has the potential to eliminate this waitlist if all those in support were to register. This is extremely feasible, as everyone has the potential to become a donor regardless of their age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or medical condition. In light of the many individuals and families being affected by the shortage of organs, it is about time Ontarians act on their support of organ and tissue donation and officially register to become donors. I created this page to encourage all of my family and friends to register their consent to become donors. Please take two minutes and register – you can do it right now, from the link on this page.
