Every 3 days someone dies while waiting for an organ transplant. If you saw 8 people in a burning building and you could save them all, would you just walk away? 1,500 people in Ontario are waiting for an organ donation. Only 25% of Ontarians are registered as donors We don't want to think about our mortality. And neither do the people who are dying because a donor match didn't think about registering as an organ donor. It only takes 3 minutes, and you'll never have to think about it again. But for the people you could one day save, you've given them a lifetime. I was raised with this phrase, and, whether heaven is your thing or not, the sentiment is the same, and I've never forgotten it: "Don't take your organs to heaven. Heaven knows we need them here".
