I am a mom, a lawyer and an organ recipient. My transplant was in 2011. While I was lucky enough to receive a kidney from a living donor most people are not so lucky. If I had not received my new kidney that way I am told I would have spent 6 years on the donor list waiting for transplant. That wait would probably have put an end to my career and more importantly my opportunity to have another child.

Register for your family, your friend, yourself. You never know who in your life will be affected.

Because I could be your sister, aunt, daughter or wife, you should register. My daughter is 3 - she would have been 9 years old before she got a healthy mommy back. No kid should have to deal with that if it isn't necessary; and it isn't. You could be part of the solution.
