My 10 month old son has been waiting for a heart transplant since June 9, 2017. He was born with a congenital heart defect called ALCAPA, but we did not know he had this defect until he was 4 months old. His defect has been corrected ( he had open heart surgery 24 hours after being diagnosed) however, he still suffers from severely reduced left ventricle function which has lead to him requiring a heart transplant. Unfortunately the damage that his heart suffered in his first 4 months, before his defect was diagnosed, has not repaired itself as they had hoped following his surgery.

Register to spread HOPE

There are currently over 1,500 people in Ontario waiting for an organ transplant. The wait can be long and stressfull and filled with anxiety. The wait is also filled with the fear that one might not survive long enough to receive a transplant. The more people that register as organ donors could make the wait a little shorter and in turn make people a little more hopeful that an organ match will become available in time to save their life. We could all use a little more HOPE.
