Devendra Mishra: Gift Of 8 Campaign
Dr. Devendra Mishra is a former Professor of Asian History and a specialist in Immigrant Studies. He is a highly respected community leader. The Mayor of Markham presented him with a prestigious Achievement and Civic Recognition Award for outstanding, distinct community service in 2014. He is the first Indo-Canadian to receive this award since its inception in 1984. Dr. Mishra is also a member of the Seniors Advisory Committee for the City of Markham and the Chair, Advisory Board for Indian-Canadian Organization. His voluntary services have been recognized at local, provincial, and federal levels.
Dr. Mishra has been working with the Council of Agencies Serving South Asians (CASSA) on their South Asian Gift of Life campaign since 2015. He has become one of the champions of promoting organ and tissue donation to the South Asian communities. Dr. Mishra strongly believes in this cause and has been actively promoting it in faith locations, cultural celebrations, and the media.
